Chelsea and Tottenham have been dealt a £52 million transfer blow as PSG reached an agreement with Serie A star Leonardo Bonucci.

Milan Skriniar has swiftly established himself as one of Europe's most sought-after players this summer, with his Inter Milan contract set to expire next year.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have both been dealt a big setback in their pursuit of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar this summer, with the Inter Milan defender moving closer to joining PSG. The 27-year-old defender has been extensively linked with a move away from the San Siro, with the Premier League duo reportedly being one of numerous clubs interested in his services.

Skriniar, whose contract with the Nerazzurri expires next year, played 35 times for Simone Inzaghi's team in Serie A this season, helping them maintain the league's second-best defensive record. In recent years, he has established himself as one of Europe's most desired centre-backs, with his superb performances once again generating a lot of interest.

PSG had already made a €50 million (£42.7 million) approach for the defender, according to the Italian tabloid La Gazzetta dello Sport, but it was quickly rejected. Chelsea and Spurs, both rumored to be interested in battling the French giants for the Slovakian's signature, have yet to make formal offers.

With Inter revealing Skriniar's asking price, it's thought that PSG has essentially tested the waters for Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte. The Italian giants reportedly demanded at least €70 million (£59.8 million) for the defender's signature at first.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Skriniar's worth will gradually decline due to his contract position until January, when clubs will be able to participate in pre-contract talks. Inter is now said to be willing to pay €60 million (£51.7 million) for the defender. Of course, with Chelsea and PSG at odds, a bidding war is very certain to break out.
