Three changes Thomas Tuchel should make for his Chelsea starting XI vs Southampton

Chelsea are looking to avoid three defeats in a row when they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge.

Every game is important when you want to challenge for the Premier League title but few would have guessed how big Chelsea vs Southampton would appear going into the international break.

Thomas Tuchel has suffered defeat to the likes of Manchester City and Juventus and the Blues have barely been able to muster a real opportunity on goal, but the German coach has not lost three matches in a row while in the Stamford Bridge hotseat.

With a number of out of form players including Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz in the squad as well as a number of injury concerns, Tuchel will have his work cut out to inspire his squad back to their highest levels.

Chilwell may not have impressed against Aston Villa, but his 45 minutes in the Allianz Stadium were much more productive. The former Leicester star produce a team-high three key passes and nine crosses in his outing.

It was far from a perfect performance, but the 24-year-old showed enough to encourage his coach to give him more football ahead of another international break.

What is the old adage? If you're fit enough for the bench, you're fit enough to start.

Mason Mount picked up an injury in last week's Carabao Cup game against Aston Villa, and while Tuchel was initially confident that the midfielder's rehabilitation was coming along at a speedy rate, he did not make it back in time for the trip to Turin.

Mount may have been missed more than anyone else in Chelsea's defeats, and if he is fit will go some way to restoring the balance and connection between the Blues' defence and attack.
