Chelsea is expected to renew its original summer interest in Lavia, the young player being viewed as a potential replacement to N'Golo Kanté, according to Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri.
Even though the Belgian only recently joined the St. Mary's club, the Southern Daily Echo reported in September that the Blues had a £50 million bid for the midfielder rejected at the end of the summer transfer market.
Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder's agent, revealed to GiveMeSport last month that the starlet's former team still had the final say over the midfielder's future because the Citizens had a £40 million buy-back release clause in the contract that allowed them to transfer him to the south coast club.
Jones, though, claims that Chelsea are still considering a deal for the player with Lavia having “big potential in the game.”
What has Jones said about Chelsea and Lavia?
Jones told GiveMeSport: “This is a player with big potential in the game. That is one thing that Chelsea are really big on.
“Lavia is certainly somebody that they’re still exploring and that’s a position on the pitch that they’re looking to completely overhaul.”
