Manchester City have sold Raheem Sterling this summer and club record scorer Sergio Aguero questioned the decision

Regarding the decision to offload Raheem Sterling this summer, Sergio Aguero has questioned his former team.

After entering the final year of his contract, Manchester City permitted Sterling to depart when Chelsea, a contender in the Premier League, made a £47.5 million offer. In a summer in which the Blues broke their previous record for most money raised in a transfer window, but at the expense of experience and creative forward play, Sterling followed Gabriel Jesus out the Etihad exit door.

There are fresh additions under Pep Guardiola. This season, he has added Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to his squad, two intriguing recruits who come with high hopes but may require some time to get used to the style of football played at City and in England.
Aguero knows better than anyone how to score goals in a City team, having smashed his way to the top of the club's all-time scoring list during ten incredible years. The former marksman played with Sterling for six of those seasons, and in a discussion about strikers old and new at the Etihad he criticised the logic behind one of the most high-profile deals of the summer.
He stated of City, "I don't understand the selling of Sterling, sometimes they make bizarre decisions."

The Blues were willing to keep Sterling and had previously tried to sign him to a new contract, but the player had made the decision he wanted a fresh challenge after not receiving the amount of playing time he had hoped for in his final 18 months under Guardiola.
