Todd Boehly takes major step to seal Raheem Sterling transfer and complete first Chelsea signing

Todd Boehly is attempting to bring in a first-round transfer addition for Thomas Tuchel's club, and it appears that Chelsea are seeking to act quickly to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

Todd Boehly has made contact with Manchester City in a bid to move quickly to land England international Raheem Sterling. The Blues are yet to complete a signing for Thomas Tuchel's first team, despite additions to the women's and development team, and there is now a suggestion that a deal could be complete as soon as last week.

Sterling leads a grown list of names being linked to Chelsea, with interest intensifying in Juventus' Matthij de Ligt, while interest in Jules Kounde and Ousmane Dembele has existed over a longer period. The west London side have even been linked to Sterling's teammate Nathan Ake, who Tuchel has said to have held an interest in since his time at Borussia Dortmund.

In his first transfer window as owner Boehly has had a very active role, becoming Chelsea's interim sporting director with Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech both departing their roles. The former will be available to assist in the coming months to aid the transition until a new sporting director is named.

The Manchester Evening News, further report that Boehly contacted City chiefs on Monday in the hope of making the deal as efficient as possible and asked for their valuation rather than risking a lengthy back and forth over finances.

An offer of £50 million may be required to prise the former Liverpool star away from the Etihad Stadium, with Gabriel Jesus set to depart for Arsenal for a fee of around £45 million. Tuchel and Sterling are believed to have already spoken, with the latter interested in a new challenge so he can continue to develop
