How Chelsea legend Ashley Cole is helping Rhian Brewster from his Sheffield United slump

England Under-21s manager Lee Carsley has offered his support for Rhian Brewster as he struggles to make an impact at Sheffield United.

The forward signed from Liverpool for over £20million last summer and has only scored one goal, in the Carabao Cup, since moving to Bramall Lane

Brewster has struggled for opportunities under Slavisa Jokanovic, failing to make it from the bench in United's last three fixtures.

With a league goal still alluding Brewster, Carsley has revealed the forward has been undergoing extra training on his finishing, with former internationals Joleon Lescott and Ashley Cole, in a bid to remain sharp in front of goal.

“Rhian needs support at the minute, he needs to see that we have faith in him as a country and that we rate him," Carsley said.

“He’s spending a lot of time with Joleon (Lescott) and Ashley (Cole) in terms of extra finishing.

“I really like Rhian. He’s not only a really exciting player, he’s a nice kid. He’s very level-headed and had a lot thrown at him in terms of someone so young, moving for big money and being in and out of the team.
