Arsenal enquired about Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante in January, according to the Frenchman’s entourage.

Jorginho was acquired by the Gunners as a result of their search for additional midfielders, but it appears Mikel Arteta had his eye on the World Cup champion at first.

The 32-year-old has been hampered by injury problems this season but that has not stopped some of Europe’s biggest names in throwing their hat into the ring for the midfielder, whose contract is up in the summer.

“N’Golo would like to continue his career in London, where he has his habits,” a member of his team told French publication Le Parisien. “He liked working with Antonio Conte, but he has been sacked by Tottenham.

“Arsenal also made an enquiry. I think he will extend his deal at Chelsea before going to the Middle-East in two or three years.”
Atletico Madrid and Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Kante on a free transfer as Chelsea considers whether to extend his contract in light of a string of injury issues, according to the Spanish website Mundo Deportivo.
Despite Le Parisien's accusations that he declined to return calls despite numerous approaches from the French champions, Paris Saint-Germain are still interested.
After capturing an improbable Premier League title with Leicester in 2015, Kante moved to Chelsea in 2016 and secured a second under Conte in 2017.
