Everton have launched a bid to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Toffees, who announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as their manager today, tabled a £40m proposal plus £5m in add-ons.

Romano reports that Gallagher will make the decision on his future, while Chelsea mull over the offer for the England international.

Newcastle are also thought to be keen on Gallagher but no official offer has been forthcoming as of yet.

It’s thought that the Magpies won’t be willing to spend over the odds to bolster their midfield this window at least - though they are looking for a replacement for Jonjo Shelvey, who left for Nottingham Forest for £10m.

But Chelsea may be reluctant to sell to a rival like Newcastle, who are very much in contention of attaining a Champions League spot this season.

As well as Newcastle, it’s reported that Crystal Palace would also be keen to re-sign Gallagher. The midfielder joined an impressive stint at Selhurst Park last season and is believed to be keen on a reunion with Patrick Vieira.

West Ham are also among the linked clubs to Gallagher.
