Chelsea have agreed to pay £34 M fee to sign powerhouse

The club are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements after losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer on free deals after they failed to agree new contracts.

And that has led to constant speculation in the media that we are eyeing up a number of possible defenders between now and the end of the transfer window in order to solve a very big problem in the squad

And the club are now thought to have stepped up their interest in Napoli defender Koulibaly, 31. – who is rated as one of the very best defenders in world football.

We have agreed to stump up the £34m Napoli are asking for to part ways with the defender, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Koulibaly is out of contract with the Serie A side at the end of next season, meaning this summer is Napoli’s last chance to demand a sizeable fee.

Koulibaly is a world class defender that has all the physical ability to be a real star in that side next season – he really is quality

He is just the type of no-nonsense defender that is perfect to replace Rudiger and for £34 million – they could get a couple of great years out of the man

The fact that Napoli are limited with how much they can charge for the player this summer means it will be easier to negotiate a deal – so if reports are true and we are looking to complete a deal – they need to make a move fast
