Reece James and Wesley Fofana of Stamford Bridge are getting close to starting full training again, which has given Chelsea manager Graham Potter a huge lift, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Blues, who are currently eighth in the Premier League, will resume play on December 27 when Bournemouth visits west London.
Wesley Fofana and Reece James are both injured for Chelsea.
Potter, in a statement to Chelsea's official website, acknowledged that James and Fofana had been assimilating into practices following the departure of a 25-man team for a warm-weather training camp in Abu Dhabi.
The Stamford Bridge defense pairing, who make a combined £450,000 per week, has accelerated their recovery after being sidelined by injuries.
a knee issue that developed during Chelsea's journey to the Champions League to AC Milan resulted in James visiting a specialist in October and, following consultation, his dreams of heading to the World Cup with England were left in tatters.
Fofana has also been dealing with a knee issue picked up two months ago, but appears to be edging towards a return to full fitness.
Phillips previously told GIVEMESPORT that James and Fofana saw a reconditioning expert in Dubai as they looked to speed up their rehabilitation period.
