Aubameyang is among those being considered; he just recently left north London rivals Arsenal to join Camp Nou on a free transfer.

Aubameyang was being watched by Chelsea, according to a report from ESPN in April 2020, before he committed to a new, long-term deal with the Gunners.

Although Thomas Tuchel now serves as the team's head coach in place of Frank Lampard, Aubameyang and Tuchel have remained friends since their days as teammates at Borussia Dortmund.
Although they have already recruited striking combo Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer and are under pressure to earn money in order to register their new players for the next LaLiga season, it is unclear at this point whether Barcelona would be willing to part with Aubameyang.

Aubameyang departed Arsenal following a dispute with head coach Mikel Arteta over what the team believed to be a pattern of indiscreet and unprofessional behavior. In response to questions regarding the circumstance, Tuchel responded as follows: "I'm sad he's in trouble; I feel bad for him. With his kind of quality and the good character he possesses, this is not where he belongs, and I still hold that belief.

"I'm not a part of what's happening at his  club now, and for this I also want to show my respect [to Arsenal] and not be involved and not judge what is right and wrong.

"I just have my picture and my relationship with Auba and this is not affected by that."

Tuchel's view of Aubameyang is particularly important given his increased influence in Chelsea's transfer strategy following the Todd-Boehly/Clearlake Capital-led takeover of the club.

After former director Marina Granovskaia and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech left the club, a reshuffle saw Tuchel take a bigger role in identifying the club's preferred targets.

Sesko of Salzburg, who has drawn interest from Manchester United and other teams, is another choice being considered. According to reports, the 19-year-old is offered for more than €50 million.
Aubameyang would be less expensive, but Chelsea's situation is made more difficult by current talks with Barcelona about a number of other players.

While Chelsea is seriously considering a deal for Frenkie de Jong, a player who has been a longtime goal of United, both Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are eager to join the Catalan giants but a fee has not yet been agreed upon for either player.

Kai Havertz will likely lead Chelsea's attack in their opening Premier League encounter against Brentford this weekend. Timo Werner is another option, although it seems increasingly probable that his future would lay elsewhere, possibly with his old team Red Bull Leipzig.
Carney Chukwuemeka has finalised his transfer from Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge and agreed to terms of a six-year contract.
