Todd Boehly set for crunch talks with Chelsea striker as Raheem Sterling transfer moves closer

Armando Broja, a striker for Chelsea, will discuss his future with Todd Boehly at some point this week. The Evening Standard reports that this week may be a turning point in the career of the much sought-after forward.

In what turned out to be a mixed season for the 20-year-old, Broja spent the 2021–2022 campaign on loan at Southampton, netting six goals for the Saints. The Slough-born Albanian international could leave Chelsea in the future if he isn't assured a berth in the first-team roster for the upcoming campaign.

Broja could be set for a reunion with his former manager but Everton are set to face serious competition for his signature. Numerous Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in the Blues striker – including West Ham United.

Chelsea are short of central striker options at the moment following Romelu Lukaku's return to Inter Milan, but the Blues are in the market trying to bring in reinforcements before the start of the new season in a month's time. Raheem Sterling remains the club's top target and a deal is very close to being completed, football.london understands, while Raphinha is still of interest despite Barcelona's attempt to hijack Chelsea's offer.

There's a school of thought that if Sterling does indeed sign for Chelsea, then Thomas Tuchel could use the England international through the centre. It's a position Sterling has been deployed in on numerous occasions during his time working under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Kai Havertz was also used in the No. 9 role for the majority of the 2021/22 season because of Lukaku's failure to impress Tuchel. It seems a bit too early in Broja's career for the 20-year-old to come in and be Chelsea's main man through the middle of attack.

For Chelsea, another loan spell in the Premier League would be the ideal next step. Broja, however, is receiving offers from left, right and centre, so it's understandable that he would want to move on and be guaranteed of first-team football.
