Paul Merson 'worries' for Man City selling Raheem Sterling to Chelsea amid 'done deal' claim

Raheem Sterling could become the first signing of the Todd Boehly later this week as the Blues ramp up their plans to sign at least two players before the squad jet off to the USA on July 9.

This is despite calls for Man City to do a U-turn on selling the Three Lions International but that hasn't seemed to impact proceedings at all as a £45m plus £10m add ons deal is to be announced in the near future.

It's a signing that former Arsenal player Paul Merson has backed as a good addition for Thomas Tuchel's side but worries about the impact it will have on the reigning Premier League Champions.

said on Sky Sports: "I think Sterling is a good signing, I’d worry about Man City selling Sterling, you’re selling a lot of goals, people go to me ‘he’s always at the far post tapping them in’ he’s not pushing anybody out the way to tap them goals in.

"There’s an art to what he does and he’d be a massive miss for Man City and if Chelsea got him that’d be a major signing especially when you’re getting a quality international player at one of the top teams in football and get him to Chelsea that is a major signing."
