Thomas Tuchel's side are interested in Man United target Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie de Jong is a target for Manchester United, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, but Chelsea is not likely to make a bid. Manchester United, a powerhouse in the Premier League, is allegedly interested in acquiring De Jong this summer from Barcelona. The player himself is hesitant to leave the Camp Nou, despite the fact that it is thought that the Red Devils and Barcelona have reached an agreement.

New United boss Erik ten Hag, who coached De Jong during their time together at Ajax, currently lacks creative midfielders in his ranks.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have seemingly been busy reinforcing their defense, having already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. But according to Romano, they have their eyes on De Jong as well.

In his latest column for CaughtOffside Substack (via CaughtOffside), the Italian transfer guru wrote:

De Jong, who moved to Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 for €75 million, has had difficulty reaching his full potential at the Camp Nou. For the Catalan giants, he has so far appeared in 140 games across all leagues, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 17 assists. In the 2020–21 season, the Dutchman assisted Barca in capturing the Copa del Rey.
