Star sends message to fans after officially completing his move to Chelsea

Eddie Beach, a promising young goalkeeper from Premier League opponent Southampton, has officially joined Chelsea.

The 18-year-old, who was a member of Saints' Premier League South U18 championship-winning team and is highly regarded by the team's coaches, had hoped to play for the first team in the upcoming seasons.

But with Southampton understood to be close to sealing a deal to sign Republic of Ireland international Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City – and experienced goalkeeper Willy Caballero reportedly agreeing a new one-year deal with the club – his chances of getting into that first-team side have dimmed

That allowed the club to swoop in and offer him a stunning move to Stamford Bridge- where he will get to work with some of the best coaches in the Premier League and possibly work his way up to playing with some of the best players in world football

Jim Fraser, Chelsea’s assistant head of youth development and head of youth recruitment, told the club’s website: “We are very pleased to bring Eddie to the club

“He is a talented goalkeeper with good potential and will join our development squad for the coming season.”

In a post on his Instagram which finished with red and white emojis, the former New Forest Football Academy player said: “Just want to say a massive thanks to @southamptonfc for the past 3 and a half years.

Particularly all the staff, teammates and coaches who have made it such a memorable experience.

“It’s been an amazing journey and I have learnt so much from everyone within the club. Now its time to look at the next chapter of my career. Good luck boys!”
