Chelsea’s acquisition of Leeds star Raphinha will be a huge blow to Arsenal – Gunners legend Ray Parlous has opened up and claimed
The Brazil international joined Leeds from Ligue 1 side Rennes on a four-year deal in October 2020, contributing six goals and eight assists in 29 Premier League games in his debut campaign, while last season the player managed 11 goals and three assists in his 35 league matches
Raphinha has two years left on his contract and is not expected to sign a new deal at Elland Road – as he seeks to make that step up in the game and play for a side that is not fighting relegation every season.
Recent reports claimed Arsenal made their first offer to try and secure a deal for Raphinha – believed to be close to that £50 million asking price that Leeds have placed on his head.
However Chelsea are now leading the chase to complete a transfer deal for the Brazilian – with Multiple reports state that a bid of £60m – rising to £65m with add-ons – has been accepted.
Now – amid all thes peculation that he is on his way to Chelsea strong> Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has come out and claimed that it will be a massive blow to miss out on the Brazilian star.
He told TalkSport “That is a bit of a blow. He has been a brilliant player.
“We know every single Leeds fan will look at him and say ‘oh, we are desperate to keep him’. But he has moved on.
“That was a player who would have been another strengthener for the squad.
“We know they are going to play Europa League next season, so they are going to have a lot more games than they did last season, so you need that big squad.
