Chelsea interested in signing €40m-rated French left-back

Real Madrid are set to part ways with Ferland Mendy this summer, and the defender is attracting interest from two of the biggest PL teams in the form of Chelsea and Man United. France international signed for Los Blancos in the summer of 2019 from Ligue 1 club Lyon in a deal worth €48m.

Mendy has been a permanent fixture in the starting lineup for most of his stint in Spain, playing 105 games in which he has five goals and nine assists. Ferland played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League triumph this past campaign with seven goal involvements in 35 games.

However, La Liga giants are set to cash in on the 27-year-old defender this summer as they have signed Rudiger from the Blues to strengthen their back-line. The German centre-back’s arrival would likely see David Alaba shift to the left-back position, thus pushing the French defender to the bench.

And La Liga giants have decided to cash in on the Frenchman and replace him with Fran Garcia. The former Lyon defender’s possible availability in the summer transfer window has seemingly alerted several top teams from around Europe, including Chelsea and Man United.

As they get ready to say goodbye to Marcos Alonso, the Blues are looking for a replacement left-back. The Spanish left-back, whose contract is about to expire, has made it very known that he wants to go back to his native country. Ferland Mendy has been apparent as a potential target for the Blues as a result.
