Thomas Tuchel has overseen an impressive start to Chelsea's season

Premier League outfit Norwich City have, on Saturday evening, struck an agreement with tactician Dean Smith to take up the reins at the club.

Smith incoming

The situation on the bench at Carrow Road has of course proven headline news in the media over the course of the week to date.

This comes with the Norwich board having come to the no doubt difficult decision to part ways with beloved boss Daniel Farke.

In altogether bizarre timing, on the back of the club’s first Premier League triumph of the campaign last weekend, the Canaries took to social media to confirm that Farke, after four years at the helm, had been sent on his way:

A whole host of tacticians, in turn, were subsequently tipped as potential replacements for the German, with ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard having initially been viewed as the clear frontrunner for the post.

After Lampard opted to pull  his name from the running on Friday, however, one name and one name only was left as a realistic option for those in a position of power in east Anglia.

The manager in question? Dean Smith.

It should therefore come as little surprise to hear of confirmation this evening that an agreement has been reached between the two parties, with Smith, sacked by Aston Villa just last weekend, set to put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half

Not the moment…’

Elsewhere on the Canaries front this weekend, meanwhile, an insight has also been provided into the future of loanee Billy Gilmour.

Much has of course been made of the struggles of Chelsea talent Gilmour of late, after the Scot slipped considerably down the midfield pecking order of Daniel Farke, failing to start a Premier League outing since mid-August.
