Tottenham fans dealt reality check as Antonio Conte sent Chelsea warning

Antonio Conte has been warned ahead of his announcement as Tottenham boss.

Tottenham supporters have been warned Antonio Conte will not make a "massive improvement" at the club. Spurs are set to appoint Conte as the successor to Nuno Espirito Santo. Conte will sign an 18-month contract with the north London club.

Conte held talks with Tottenham in the summer but both parties were unable to reach an agreement.

But the Italian is now set to take over mid-season with Spurs having lost five of their 10 Premier League matches.

Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes Conte can get more out of the Tottenham squad than Nuno did.

However, he believes there are fundamental problems at the club that not even the 52-year-old can resolve.

Spurs' rivals Chelsea  are currently top of the Premier League and McCoist has warned Conte he won't be challenging his old team anytime soon.

"In terms of the new manager, I've got to be honest with you right, I think that whole place has to be completely transformed," McCoist said on talkSPORT.

"I'm looking at Spurs and it just needs a complete shake from top to bottom.

"I think he might do that but he'll definitely need money to spend.

Listen, Conte in my opinion might get a better tune out of Spurs and those players, but I don't see a massive improvement in them. I don't.

"They might start winning the odd game here and there but they're not all of a sudden going to start challenging Chelsea and Manchester City."

Meanwhile, former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes one of Conte's main problems is the form of Harry Kane.

Kane has scored just one Premier League goal so far this season.

"If I was the manager of that club right now and you took over the job, how do I get Harry Kane going?" Redknapp said on Sky Sports News.
