Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was one of many that were full of praise for the performance from goalkeeper Edouard Mendy yesterday.
The Senegalese international was in fine form with the gloves as the Blues managed to see out a tense 1-0 victory over Brentford.
Ben Chilwell’s fine strike just before half-time gave Thomas Tuchel's side the lead, but it was the form of Mendy that really caught the eye of spectators.
The number 16 made six saves during the match, some of them acrobatic and others seemingly painful. However, his man of the match performance guided the Blues to a narrow victory on the road.
Chelsea boss Tuchel was full of praise for his goalkeeper, saying: “The last 20 minutes the game turned into a cup game, they put a lot of bodies into our box, we could not keep them away from shooting and having big chances.
“Edou [Mendy] was absolutely decisive to escape with a clean sheet.”
