Chelsea to firm up interest in Real Madrid star by lodging hefty bid

Chelsea are allegedly interested in landing Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid. The London-based side see the Frenchman as the perfect replacement for Marcos Alonso and are set to submit an offer.

As per a recent report in El Nacional, the Blues will make a move for him next summer. Thomas Tuchel’s side are prepared to offer €60 million for the defender who is a key figure at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The report adds that Chelsea were interested in snapping up the left-back in the summer transfer market as well.

But didn’t match the aforementioned asking price. However, they’re now willing to rekindle their interest and go in with a bid.

Carlo Ancelotti has been a huge fan of Mendy and suggested he’d be open to using him in different roles. The Italian tactician stated the Frenchman could also play as a central defender this season for Los Blancos.

At Chelsea, Ferland could be utilised as a left wing-back and will have to fight for starting spot with Ben Chilwell.

The Italo-Brazilian star Emerson Palmieri is out on loan this term at Lyon but is expected to depart permanently next summer.

Marcos Alonso could also leave if the Premier League giants are close to signing the Galacticos star.
