Sir Jim Ratcliffe submits 'official bid' to buy Manchester United

A formal offer has apparently been made to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS firm.

The 70-year-old is the richest person in Britain and is said to have enlisted the help of Wall Street behemoths JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs to assist him on his offer.

And according to sources close to the British tycoon, Ratcliffe has now made an official bid to purchase the club. If his bid is successful, he aims to "put the Manchester back in Manchester United," according to the Athletic.


The chemical tycoon, whose estimated net worth is £13.3 billion, was also a candidate to purchase Chelsea last year. He is a season ticket holder of the club and made a last-minute £4.25 billion offer to buy it there in May.
