According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United has no interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho this January or next summer.
According to reports, the club is concerned about Jorginho's mobility and capacity to perform in their midfield system. His huge salaries will also be too much for a club that is already having trouble adhering to its financial fair play restrictions.
Jorginho's contract with Chelsea expires in six months. There are no indications that the Blues intend to retain the former Napoli player after this campaign.
In the January winter transfer window, Newcastle is seeking for midfielders, and the name of the Italian international circulated. He was touted as one of the Magpies' primary targets.
Eddie Howe is the head coach, but it appears that the club is not interested in signing Jorginho asking for reinforcement to bolster his team’s start to the season.
Newcastle have their eyes on Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.
A deal for Caicedo this winter window might be tough to pull off, with the player set to cost over £60 million. The Ecuadoran international signed a four-and-a-half-year deal when he joined the club in 2021.
Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth organised the signing of Caicedo when he was with the Seagulls. He knows all about the player.
Another option is Youri Tielemans, whose contract expires in June 2023. Leicester City set a £35 million asking price for the Belgium international last summer, but there were no takers.
Newcastle might get him at a lower sum with only six months left on his deal with the Foxes.
