In an interview with the Ayurvedic Healing & Beyond Podcast, Thomas Tuchel asserted that at Chelsea, Thiago Silva never required instruction.
After a successful stint together at PSG, the pair teamed up at Stamford Bridge. Together, they propelled the European juggernauts to the Champions League's semifinals, which was the farthest they had ever advanced.
But a year later, when they helped Chelsea win the title of European Champions for the second time in their history, they both achieved their aspirations in the competition.
When the club changed ownership last year, things rapidly came to an end after another respectable season of cooperation.
Clearly, Todd Boehly and Tuchel had different ideas on how to run this club, and that ended with the German being sacked after 100 games with the club.
Tuchel didn’t coach Silva
He has now claimed that despite being seen as a very good tactical coach, his brilliance was not needed when it came to Silva.
He said: “It’s absolutely okay to get feedback from the very best players. Why should I tell Thiago Silva how to defend? He knows how to defend. He tells me where he feels comfortable, where he needs protection.
“Then I adjust our system to help him feel confident. It’s not that I explain to him, he is far too experienced and good.”
