PSG join Chelsea in race to sign Leipzig star
The Blues are long-term admirers of the Croatian star and they were eager to negotiate a pre-agreement in the last transfer window.
The club tried to negotiate a deal for next summer with Leipzig, but the Bundesliga side made it clear that he was not for sale.
Chelsea remain in the hunt for the 20-year-old defender, but L'Equipe claim that Les Parisiens have joined the pursuit of the player's services.
Leipzig recently committed Gvardiol to a new long-term deal, but there are still doubts whether he would stay beyond next summer.
Any interested club would still need to make a significant offer. It could take more than £90 million to convince the German side to sell him.
Chelsea could have a tough job of convincing Gvardiol on the back of a poor season. They are currently eighth in the Premier League.
