The 25-year-old midfielder moved from Serie A powerhouse Juventus to the London heavyweights in the dying hours of the summer transfer window. He was a former Monchengladbach midfielder.

However, the Swiss international has yet to make a single appearance for the West London powerhouses in any league, and on Tuesday night in the Champions League, he was once more an inactive substitute against Serie A heavyweights, AC Milan.

Since his arrival, Zakaria has not played for a Premier League squad, as there are a number of players at Stamford Bridge who are ahead of him in the pecking order.

Graeme Potter side have the option to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer, however, there is allegedly no long-term future for the playmaker at the club.

According to 90min, the Blues want to terminate his loan deal in January, however, Juventus have no obligation to take him back in the middle of the season.

The report suggests that the West London giants will also be looking to sell Ziyech at the start of 2023, with AC Milan thought to be showing an interest in his services.

Ajax are also believed to be keeping a close eye on developments, with the Dutch champions keen to re-sign the player that they previously had between 2016 and 2020.

Ziyech did not make the trip to Italy for Wednesday’s Champions League match with Milan following to illness.

“Hakim is ill. Hakim has a sore throat and that is why he has not travelled,” Potter told reporters when questioned about his absence on Tuesday.

Ziyech has played five games for the Blues during the 2022-23 season, with three of those outings coming in the Premier League.

The Morocco international is down the pecking order when it comes to the attacking areas at Stamford Bridge, though, and he has allegedly been informed that he is not in Potter’s plans moving forward.
