The Blues are determined to add another new centre-back to their squad as a deal for Jules Kounde is held up.

Although it is not yet time for panic stations at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel has a lot of work to do before the Premier League opening against Everton in 12 days after returning to England following a disastrous conclusion to the preseason.

While up to seven players would like to leave the club, Chelsea is frantically trying to sign Jules Kounde, and Todd Boehly is beginning to feel the pace and strain of the global football market.
The majority of their focus has been on signing Jules Kounde, but due to Barcelona's unwanted involvement, that deal is still being delayed. Chelsea sought to recruit Presnel Kimpembe before giving in to his wish to remain in Paris, however this hasn't stopped them from looking elsewhere. They were also close to agreeing on a fee for Nathan Ake but pulled out before the £50 million price tag.

Like Kalidou Koulibaly in 2017, they are now going back to one of their long-term ambitions with moves all around Chelsea. Antonio Conte coveted him when he was in charge of SW6.
With Paris Saint-Germain moving sharply to execute the deal for another Chelsea target, Nordi Mukiele, that has left the door open for the Blues to rekindle talks for Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar, a player they have been attracted to for a long time. The Slovakian centre-back has a contract until next summer, so they could be forced to move for a cut price this summer, though.
