Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has revealed that he and his fellow officials sang Europe hit 'The Final Countdown' before officiating his final game last season

According to Mike Dean, he listened to "The Final Countdown" in the locker room prior to his final match as a Premier League referee.

At the tail end of the previous season, Dean, who some have labeled a celebrity referee due to his comic villain antics, blew his whistle one final time. The 54-year-old will continue to serve as a specialist VAR official for Chelsea's 2-1 triumph over Watford at Stamford Bridge in May, although he has stepped down from his on-field responsibilities.

Now that he has talked about that crucial day in west London, he has admitted that he and his fellow officials sang to send Dean off into the distance.
According to Dean, who spoke to the Daily Mail, "I never play music in the referee's dressing room beforehand." But I played The Final Countdown on my phone prior to Chelsea-Watford. I reasoned, "Why not?" The guys, fourth official John Busby, assistants Darren Cann and Ian Hussin, all joined in.

"After a brief sing-along and hug, I didn't start to get sad until we were leaving. I turned around and saw my wife and my family, at which point I realized it was the final time I would be doing it.
