With Chelsea apparently joining the hunt for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, Thomas Tuchel appears to have discovered a new understudy for Ben Chilwell. The Blues have identified the 21-year-old as a possible replacement for Marcos Alonso, whose future is uncertain.
The France youth international had a strong season with Wolves, making 27 appearances for Bruno Lage's team as he progressed. Ait-Nouri, whose contract at Molineux runs out in 2026, has emerged as one of the Premier League's most exciting possibilities in recent months.
Ait-Nouri has made such an impression that some of Europe's top teams are reportedly keeping an eye on him. According to new sources, Chelsea is considering the Frenchman as a possible replacement for Xabi Alonso, who is expected to return to Spain after falling out of favor under Tuchel.
Wolves are expected to examine offers in the range of £25 million, as previously said. According to the BirminghamMail, Angers is said to have a 50% sell-on clause on Ait-Nouri, thus Lage's side would not be entitled to the entire money.
