Manchester United respond to claims Cristiano Ronaldo could make Chelsea transfer

Despite the Portugal striker being linked with a spectacular transfer to Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester United is emphatic that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale and will remain at Old Trafford next season.

Last season, Ronaldo had an excellent return to United, at least on an individual basis, scoring 24 goals in 38 games and earning PFA Player of the Year honors.

The 37-year-old re-joined Manchester United last summer and signed a three-year contract, but during the 2021–2022 season, rumors of his departure from Old Trafford persisted, and they have only grown since the season's conclusion.

Ronaldo is claimed to be worried about the club's transfer plan because several agreements have been stalled in the early stages of the transfer window. Ronaldo is desperate to win championships at United and return to the Champions League.

Ronaldo's future at United and a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge were reportedly addressed when Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes and new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly met in Portugal on Saturday, according to a source.

Although it is unknown whether Chelsea is interested in Ronaldo, Thomas Tuchel is eager to improve his forward options this summer after approving the £97.5 million failure Romelu Lukaku's departure. Lukaku is expected to return to Inter Milan on a season-long loan.

Raheem Sterling and Robert Lewandowski have also been associated with the Blues, and it appears.
Even when we lost games, they always support us, they always are with us. The supporters are always in my heart and it’s the people that we all should respect because they are always on our side.

For me, the most important thing is to try to win the games and try to win some championship or some cup but I believe that Manchester will be where they belong. As I say before, sometimes it takes time but I still believe.

‘What I know about him [Ten Hag] is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he’s an experienced coach. But we need to give him time.

‘Things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.

‘We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well. I wish him the best and let’s believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.’
