The 27-year-old forward’s long-term future at the Etihad Stadium is expected to be uncertain as he will soon be entering the final year of his current deal, while competition for places has intensified following the arrivals of Julian Alvarez and Erling Braut Haaland.
Premier League rivals Chelsea are believed to have stepped up their efforts to secure the services of Rahem Sterling in the summer, with the West London giants set to reinforce their frontline should forward Romelu Lukaku return to Inter Milan.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues regard Sterling as their primary transfer target in the summer and they have seen an opening offer of €25m (£21.4m) plus add-ons turned down by the Premier League champions.
Romano adds that Thomas Tuchel’s side are planning to make a second bid for the England international, with the Citizens valuing the attacker between €55m (£47.1m) and €60m (£51.4m).
Since joining the Man City from Liverpool in 2015, Sterling has managed to found back of the net 131 times and provided 95 assists in 339 games across all competitions, winning a total of 12 titles.
