La Liga No.7 attacker turns down Barcelona contract offer amid Chelsea interest

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has reportedly turned down the club’s final offer of a new deal and is set to depart as a free agent at the end of the month.

The France international’s future has been one of the main subjects in media in the recent months with Chelsea thought to be his favoured destination if he decides to leave the club.

The Catalan giants tried and failed to force Frenchman out of the door in January as he entered the final six months of his deal, at which point he was free to agree a pre-contract contract with a foreign team.

However, Dembele stayed at Camp Nou and ultimately regained the trust of Xavi with several strong forms in Spanish top-tier, leading Spanish giants to consider the possibility of a new deal for the 25-year-old.

President Joan Laporta recently revealed that he had not heard back from Dembele or his agent over proposed fresh terms, though, telling reporters: “Dembele has an offer to stay, but we have no news that he’s accepted it. We haven’t had a reply from him.”

According to journalist Santi Ovalle – via the Daily Mail – France international forward has turned down Barcelona’s latest offer, and ready to join Chelsea ahead of the 2022/23 season.
