Chelsea receive mixed news on Man City's Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling amid transfer talk

The Man City duo were both instrumental in Pep Guardiola's side winning the Premier League title in 2021/22, but certain transfer additions have jeopardized their careers at the Etihad.

Chelsea appear to have received conflicting reports on Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, as the Blues prepare to make their move once the Romelu Lukaku Inter Milan problem is resolved.

While the defence is a priority in this summer's £200 million squad overhaul, the attack is also a source of concern, with Lukaku's departure leaving a large vacuum to fill. Furthermore, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech are said to be dissatisfied with their own statuses at the club. Obviously, due to the unique 2022/23 season that will test Thomas Tuchel's squad to the limit, not all three attackers will be sold in the coming weeks, but at least one could leave if offensive reinforcements are needed.

They claim that Three Lions star Sterling is Chelsea's top attacking target this summer, with a fee of £50 million required if the player, who has one year left on his contract, is to be paid this summer. The article goes on to say that no contact has been made between the two teams as of today, but that could change.
