Champions warned about letting goal-machine complete Chelsea move

Raheem Sterling's transfer from Man City to Chelsea could "come back and bite them," according to Shay Given.

One of the top players in the English game, Sterling has won several awards throughout his time with Man City. He has scored 131 goals for the Premier League Champions.

However – as Pep Guardiola looks to shake things up for next season – there are a number of players that the Spaniard is willing to let leave this summer – and Sterling is one of them

And according to the reports on the Daily Telegraph today – we have now opened talks with Man City about a possible deal for Raheem Sterling after Thomas Tuchel asked Ted Boehly to get the Englishman signed this summer

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Given has opened up and voiced his opinion on the possible signing of Sterling – claiming that Man City could be making a huge mistake selling him to a Premier League title rival.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Given said: “Will he come back and bite Pep, maybe? That’s the thing from a City point of view, do you think he will come back and score a goal towards the end of the season that wins the league for Chelsea.

“He’s a top player, but with 12 months left £50million is still a lot of money. With the Financial Fair Play, City have to balance the books and they are still trying to bring in players as well. It might fit well for both clubs.”
