William Gallas hits back at Chelsea’s critics after Blues are accused of ’embarrassing’ celebrations after Club World Cup victory

William Gallas has hit back at claims that Chelsea ’embarrassed’ themselves by celebrating their Club World Cup victory while Manchester City. extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Blues beat Palmeiras in the final to complete a full set of trophies since Roman Abramovich’s takeover in 2003.

However, while the Blues were in Dubai to compete in the competition, City extended the gap between themselves and Chelsea to 16 points.

That led to former Chelsea ace Craig Burley criticising the Blues, describing their celebrations as 'embarrassing' and the competition itself a nonsense'.

Chelsea resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Crystal Palace this weekend.

Thomas Tuchel is unsure over Mason Mount’s availability for the trip to Selhurst Park, after the England midfielder was forced off in the Club World Cup final win.

‘He was injured. It was in one of the first actions, he had a run at the back post with Azpilicuet,’ said Tuchel.

‘They fell and his opponent fell on his ankle and he hurt his ligaments badly. So we have to see. It’s an injury.

‘He came to me and said he didn’t feel good, stiff and painful. He didn’t know if he could continue so we took the decision.’
