Chelsea could be left to rue January decision as target now wanted by Arsenal and Tottenham

Thomas Tuchel was forced into just the one piece of business last month. He recalled Kenedy from his loan with Flamengo to ease the concerns on the left-side of the team after first-choice full-back Ben Chilwell was ruled out until the end of the season.

So getting a new left-back in to replace him wouldn’t have been a bad idea.

One of the options they considered but ultimately didn’t pursue was Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa, 24.

He has impressed in the Bundesliga, with his goal contributions particularly eye-catching. Last season he set-up 10 goals for his team-mates.

It’s been more of the same this campaign, with two goals and six assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.

He claims the Gunners and Spurs are interested in making a move in the summer. Both could be in the market for a new left-back.

Mikel Arteta doesn’t seem convinced by his current back-up Nuno Tavares. And the same can be said for Antonio Conte with Ryan Sessegnon.

As such, Chelsea, who also might be in the market again, could be left wishing they snatched up Sosa in the winter window.
