Man United legend Paul Scholes makes another bizarre Chelsea claim after Edouard Mendy heroics

The former Manchester United midfielder took to Instagram to criticise the Blues after the win against Brentford.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has suggested that Chelsea did not defend well enough against Brentford following Edouard Mendy’s spectacular performance

The Senegalese stopper was in inspirational form for the Blues against their west London rivals.

He made six saves throughout the game and was a huge reason behind Chelskming three points.

One save in particular caught the eye as Mendy displayed his athleticism to deny Christian Norgaard’s acrobatic effort, whilst he was also on hand to also frustrate Ivan Toney, Saman Ghoddos and Pontus Jansson from close range.

Despite his brilliant performance, Scholes has suggested that Mendy was only called into action due to the Blues’ defence not being at top form.

Posting on his Instagram story alongside a photo of the Chelsea stopper, he wrote: “Just a question…if your keeper is MOM [man-of-the-match] does that mean your team defended well?”

Mendy’s performance was pivotal in earning what was a remarkable personal accolade. Having kept the hosts at bay throughout the 90 minutes, the former Rennes man was able to claim the20th Premier League clean sheet of his relatively short Chelsea career since arriving last summer.
