Real Madrid facing possible points deduction due to incident

Real Madrid’s hopes in La Liga are as good as over and the best they can hope from here is finishing second, behind Barcelona. Their 1-0 win over Getafe at the weekend was a boost in that regard. A goal from Marco Asensio in the 70th minute of the game proved to be the winner and sealed the three points for Los Blancos. But now, it appears that there is some bad news for Real Madrid.
Los Blancos could face a possible points deduction, due to an incident regarding the substitutions on the day. As reported by SPORT, Asensio initially left the pitch replaced by Alvaro Odriozola. And in fact went outside the limits of the regulation field. However, Eduardo Camavinga’s injury pushed back Carlo Ancelotti, who opted to return the Spaniard to the field so that it was the French international who left for the full-back.
Asensio should have already been considered a substituted player because he had left the field, and Camavinga, injured, should have stayed on the field or left Real Madrid with ten men. That change was the fifth and final one for Ancelotti.
How things will turn out is still uncertain. Getafe or any other club would have to complain before Tuesday for anything to happen.
If that is done and it is effective, Real Madrid will lose the game 0–3 and will also get a financial penalty of approximately €10,000.
Naturally, nothing appears to have transpired in this regard up to this point, and fans will be praying that it stays that way. Real Madrid would drop to third place and fall one point behind Atletico Madrid if they did truly lose the three points.
