Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos as a potential transfer target for the summer.
According to 90min, Blues scouts are eyeing a number of different attackers in Europe as an alternative to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
The report claims that Ramos, 21, is someone on the Chelsea radar that their scouts are currently watching.
Benfica’s young centre-forward has 18 goals in 28 games across all competitions so far this season.
Also, he announced himself on the big stage by scoring a hat-trick for Portugal at last year’s World Cup in a knockout tie. Incidentally, Gary Lineker described his World Cup heroics as “remarkable” on Twitter.
Jornal de Noticias, as quoted by Sports Witness, has claimed that Ramos has a €120million (£106million) release clause in his contract with Benfica.
He wasn’t one of the World Cup breakout stars to earn a January move off the back of the international tournament, but he’s continued to enhance his reputation by scoring goals in the Portuguese top division.
Chelsea negotiated hard with Benfica to bring Enzo Fernandez to Stamford Bridge last month. Could the duo lock horns again in a few months time for Ramos?
In our view, Ramos looks quite an impressive frontman with a lot of potential. Osimhen is by far the more finished product, though.
