Chelsea star Thiago Silva is expected to pen a new Stamford Bridge contract 'very soon' after holding progressive talks behind the scenes, journalist Simon Phillips has told GiveMeSport.
Having broken the British transfer record by parting with £106.8million for Enzo Fernandez on deadline day, Blues boss Graham Potter has turned his attentions towards attempting to tie Silva down to fresh terms.
Chelsea contract news - Thiago Silva
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have entered advanced talks over a new contract for Silva.
The report suggests a fresh proposal, which would see the Brazil international remain in west London until the summer of 2024, is on the table.
It is understood that Chelsea are increasingly confident that Silva will sign on the dotted line after holding positive discussions and it has become clear that all parties are keen to extend his stay.
The development comes after respected reporter Phillips recently told GiveMeSport that he had been hearing 'positive things' about the internal negotiations with the central defender.
Silva entered the final six months of his Chelsea contract, which is worth £110,000-per-week, at the turn of the year.
