It makes sense that in the past week, everyone's attention has been focused on the World Cup.
But as today's news about Trevoh Chalobah's new contract reminded us, there is still activity at Cobham.
Without the distraction of club games, it was probably simpler to negotiate the defender's significant extension.
Graham Potter has established Chalobah as a dependable player, and this is likely the first contract that the head coach had some say over. After using the 23-year-old in nearly every game since joining Chelsea and getting to know him very well in a short period of time, he was able to give this one the go-ahead.
In a comparable vein, we can envision Potter is right now sorting through the players he wants to re-sign, plus some targets he wants to bring in.
While we’re watching Qatar, let’s hope Chelsea keep making strides.
