Liverpool are reportedly set to rival Chelsea for the services of Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker Moises Caicedo.

According to reports, Liverpool and Chelsea will compete for the services of Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker Moises Caicedo.

Since the beginning of the year, the 20-year-old midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at the Amex Stadium, and several big Premier League sides are rumored to have taken notice of his performance.

In February 2021, former head coach Graham Potter acquired Caicedo for Brighton for for £4.5 million from Ecuadorian team Independiente del Valle.

The playmaker spent the first half of the 2020–21 season on loan at Beerschot in Belgium before returning to Brighton for the second half of the season, where he made 11 appearances across all competitions under Potter.

Caicedo commenced Brighton's entire  final eight Premier League matches of last term and he has since played in each of their opening six top-flight games this term.

Caicedo still has three years left on his current deal at the Amex Stadium, however, rumors continue to circulate about his future at the club.

According to Football Insider, Jurgen Klopp’s the Merseyside Reds are planning to rival the Blues – who are now managed by Potter – for Caicedo’s services in the New Year.

The Merseyside Reds were keen to recruit a new playmaker in the latter stages of the summer window following to a number of injuries to first-team players, and they eventually signed Arthur Melo from Serie A giants, Juventus on a season-long loan deal.

The Reds allegedly have an option to sign the Brazilian permanently for £33.1m (€37.5m) in 2023, however, it is believed that they will instead step up their interest in either Caicedo or Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen their midfield options in the New Year, with the long-term futures of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho – who are both in their 30s and out of contract in June 2023 – believed to be uncertain.y
