Chelsea told what they must do after Raheem Sterling transfer is confirmed with fears they will fall further behind Liverpool and Man City

Chelsea need to do a lot more in the transfer market to catch the Premier League title winners and Liverpool, talkSPORT have been told.

The Blues are set to confirm the arrival of Raheem Sterling in a £47million deal but ex-Premier League star Gabby Agbonlahor believes that must only be the start.

The England forward will bolster their weak attack, which has lost Romelu Lukaku.

But the entire Chelsea squad, now owned by Todd Boehly, has also been weakened with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen joined Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

And Agbonlahor feels, even with talk of new signings with Boehly out in Barcelona early this week to negotiate, they may find it tough to mount a title challenge.

“[Sterling] will help them bridge the gap,” he told talkSPORT. “What was it, [19 points] behind Manchester City? That’s a big gap.

“They have lost Rudiger who, for me, was one of the best defenders in the Premier League last season, they have to fill that gap.

“There is talk of De Ligt coming in but that's not Don yet

“Lukaku has gone. For me they probably need another striker because Werner is hot and cold. Pulisic and Ziyech are looking like they are going to leave.

“Sterling will make them better but, for me, they still need three or four top players to get anywhere near Liverpool or Manchester City.

Chelsea are currently in the hunt to sign Raphinha, Nathan Ake, Sergino Dest, Frenkie de Jong, and Matthijs de Ligt but progress is currently slow, mainly because Barcelona have involvement in some of those deals.
