Real Madrid determined to agree deal for 22-year-old Chelsea star

Real Madrid will eye a move for Chelsea and England defender Reece James this summer, reports say.

The 22-year-old played against Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in April and Carlo Ancelotti is understood to have been impressed after seeing the player perform up close.

The Mirror says the Galacticos have watched Reece nine times this term and have now decided James is the player they’re looking for fill the right side of the defence.

The Italian boss could be minded to shake up his roster at the end of the term in spite of his side’s run to the UCL semi-finals and impending La Liga triumph.

In their match versus Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 30-year-old Dani Carvajal was selected as the team’s right-back but struggled with the pace of the Blues’ forward line.

Chelse’s academy product could be an upgrade on him, but it looks unlikely the Londoners would sell the talent considering he is the natural replacement to 32-year-old Cesar Azpilicueta.

With 3 years still to run on the youngster’s current deal, it’d take a huge proposal to prize him away from his boyhood club.

Since breaking through in the team under Frank Lampard three years ago, Reece has emerged as one of the country’s most promising players.
