Jules Kounde ‘agrees five-year Chelsea contract’ but Sevilla hold out on £56m transfer fee for defender

Jules Kounde, a defender for Sevilla, has reportedly signed a five-year contract with Chelsea in the Premier League.

Last summer, the Blues were extensively connected with the Frenchman, but their approach failed to persuade Sevilla to sell.
Kounde was alleged to be enraged at his club for rejecting him a transfer to the European champions at the time.

The 23-year-old could leave Sevilla this summer, with a number of major clubs interested in signing him.

According to Sport, Kounde has agreed to a five-year contract with Chelsea, although a sum has not to be agreed upon with Sevilla.

Barcelona is also rumored to be interested in the defender.

In order to beat Chelsea to Kounde's signature, Barca would have to convince the player to accept half of what Thomas Tuchel's side are offering.

Barca can't offer the same wage as the Prem side who are reportedly ready to make him one of the highest paid players at Stamford Bridge - a risky move that could lead to possible unrest within the squad.

Kounde caused concern during the international break after an old pelvic problem flared up.
