Fee agreed – Chelsea to announce new signing – Madrid left fuming

Chelsea fans were told this weekend that a deal for US goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina is close to being completed.

Now that Chelsea has a new owner, all of the conjecture and rumors about who players will be joining the club can begin, as the club is free to hold conversations, make offers, and pay to complete deals following the lifting of the penalties.

That has led to speculation in the media that Chelsea are very much interested in the highly-impressive young American stopper Gabriel Slonina – and have even made contact over a possible deal for the Chicago Fires star

However – it seemed that the Blues will miss out on a move for the player after Slonina’s agent, Jaime Garcia, has confirmed the teenager has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.

But now it seems that he could be heading to Stamford Bridge after Fabrizio Romano tweeted the Blues are now leading the race over Real Madrid – with an £8million fee agreed -and they are about to sign the talented young man.

'Gabriel Slonina transaction update,' wrote the Italian journalist. Chelsea are closing in on an agreement to sign the excellent goalkeeper after Real Madrid's proposal was rejected — discussions are ongoing with Chelsea to complete the transaction as soon as possible.'

"A €10 million price is expected from Chicago for GK Slonina, who was born in 2004," Romano stated.
