Chelsea: £200k-a-week star would be ‘a quality addition’ at Stamford Bridge

According to journalist Jacque Talbot, Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt 'would be a terrific addition' for Thomas Tuchel's side this summer.

The Blues will be in severe need of defensive reinforcements in the coming months, with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger both expected to leave for greener pastures.

What is the most recent De Ligt news?
While Rudiger has signed to a four-year contract with Real Madrid, Christensen is set to join Barcelona when his current contract ends at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano  has revealed that club captain Cesar Azpilicueta remains on the radar of the Catalan giants despite recently triggering a 12-month extension on his existing deal at Chelsea.

De Ligt is one player who the west London club is'monitoring,' according to Romano, as they prepare for life without key members of their veteran backline.

The Netherlands international's £200,000-a-week deal, which expires in 2024, is thought to include a €120 million (£102 million) release clause, and he is refusing to sign new terms until that sum is reduced.

What is the most recent De Ligt news?
With De Ligt's contract discussions deadlocked, speculation about his future has grown, and Talbot believes that staying at Juventus isn't as 'appealing' as a move to Chelsea.
