Loftus-Cheek praises how Chilwell responded to his tough start to the season at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was full of praise for wing-back duo; Reece James and Ben Chilwell after their incredible form recently.

For most teams, losing your main striker through injury can be quite problematic.

The Blues, however, have hardly had any problem winning games despite Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner’s injuries in the last few weeks.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is not exactly spoilt for choices for this role, either, with Kai Havertz arguably being his only safe option.

The key to their successfully dealing with these injuries, according to Loftus-Cheek, is the other players’ being able to step up and score.

So everyone puts in a shift and contributes.”

The wing-back duo; James and Chilwell, in particular, have really stepped up in terms of goal contributions.

As it stands, James leads the club’s goalscoring charts in the league with four goals, while the latter has had three goals so far.

Asked whether, in training, James strikes the ball as well as he did in October’s win over Newcastle United, Loftus Cheek responded: “Of course, he does (laugh).

“If he couldn’t do it in training, he wouldn’t be able to do it on the pitch.

“His technique when striking the ball is fantastic, whether it’s crossing the ball with the instep, curling it, or striking it with the laces.

“As you can see, he’s very, very technical
