Real Madrid defender emerged as top transfer target for Chelsea

Chelsea and Man Utd are reportedly two of three teams that are interested in securing the services of Real Madrid defender, Ferland Mendy.

The France international defender has featured in 35 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s team last campaign, playing his part in Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League success.

However, the arrival of German centre-back Antonio Rudiger has cast doubt over the future of the ex-Lyon player, with the signing of Rudiger set to result in David Alaba moving across to left-back.

With Mendy set to fall down the pecking order, Fichajes are claiming that Real Madrid are prepared to sell Mendy in the summer, with Rayo Vallecano’s Fran Garcia touted as the Frenchman’s replacement.

Man Utd and Chelsea have been credited with a strong interest in the Los Blancos full-back, while Serie A giants Juventus are also in the running to secure the services of Mendy.

Real Madrid will be looking to recoup the €48m (£41m) transfer fee that they paid to lure Mendy from French giants back in 2019.

The 27-year-old defender whose current deal expire in the summer 2025, has played 105 games for Los Blancos, founding back of the net five times in that period.
