No doubt’: Rio Ferdinand says Chelsea player who’s having a ‘rough period’ right now will come good

Rio Ferdinand has confidently claimed that Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku will soon overcome his “rough period” in front of goal to start scoring goals again.

Lukaku, 28, was the big name addition in the summer when he re-signed for the Blues and sealed a return to Stamford Bridge..

The left-footed striker started the season excellently, scoring four goals in his opening four appearances. However, the Belgium international has now failed to net in his last six consecutive Chelsea appearances.

It’s hardly time to panic after a small run without scoring, but by the high standards he’s set in the last couple of years it’s a noticeable dip.

Pundit Ferdinand has shown his faith for Lukaku by predicting the ex-Manchester United centre-forward will soon be back among the goals.

“Lukaku hasn’t scored in six games but they are still winning games. There is no doubt in my mind he comes back and scores a hatful of goals. He’s just having a bit of a rough period like all strikers go through,” Ferdinand said.
